March fishing report Posted Sunday, March 16, 2008 by spencesguideservice Spring is only 4 days away, and the catfishing has been doing OK. The lake level is comming up real good, we are about 71 foot and with rain we should keep comming up.
There are three places to put your boat in on the north side of lake Marion; Two are on Hwy 260 south of Manning SC, they are the Alex Harvin landing the is a plubic landing that is free and the Randolphs landing at the end of Hwy 260 at the dam and they charge $5.00 to put you boat in. The thrid is near Summerton SC in the goat iland area and its the one the proes use and its free as well.
The weather effects the fish a lot more then the lake level. So keep an eye on the weather.
Good luck this spring.

December fishing report Posted Thursday, November 29, 2007 by spencesguideservice Its hard to beleve that we only have one more month left this year; So far fishing has been doing OK even with the low water. There are two ramps that are still open on the north side of lake Marion, they are the Alex Harvin on Hwy 260 south of Manning, SC and the John C. Land landing in the goat iliand area. You need to be carful using them because of the low water but you still can get into to water for some good fishing. Cats are still being caught in the deep water from the dam up to 6 miles up the lake, as it gets colder the cats will move to the river channels in the middle of the lake and the main rive channel on the south side. Just watch your depth finder for big schools of bait. We have had a real good number of bait this year. Stripers are being caught in the area around the dam and the Wyboo are with live harring. The bait should stay hear if the birds do not eat them like last year.
Gook luck and watch were you are going, it is best to go slow if you do not know the area and rember that pictures goes a long way so let the real big fish go so others can have the fun you hand.
Thank you Capt Alan Spence
