| | ![]() Santee-Cooper Lakes Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie vary from shallow swamp flats and black water ponds to large expanses of open water loaded with underwater structure. The lakes total 170,000 acres, have a maximum depth of 50 feet and are joined by a diversion canal. This area, known as "Santee Cooper Country", has produced numerous state records for several species.
